IESE Deferred MBA Details and Highlights

The IESE Deferred MBA program is one great option for students in the final year of their graduation to secure a seat at the full-time MBA program of IESE after pursuing a full-time job for some time. This program is commonly known as ESE’s Young Talent Path.

There are many other options for applying to a deferred MBA program and if you decide to pursue this one, you would be required to gather lots of information about application deadline dates, requirements for applications, eligibility criteria etc. This blog contains all the information related to different aspects of the IESE Deferred MBA program.

About the Program

This program is an opportunity for final year students pursuing their graduation programs from different schools and universities. Also, young professionals can apply to the IESE Deferred MBA program. They encourage students from different educational, professional and geographical backgrounds to apply for the IESE Deferred MBA program.

Class Profile

From 2009, a total of around 280 students have been admitted in the IESE full-time MBA program. The average age of students applying for the program is 22.6 years. 49% were international students and 40% of the total were women. They have come from different university backgrounds.

38% come from engineering, 28% come from business and economics, 17% have come from sciences and another 17% from Political Science, law and humanities. People from different countries have been a part of the IESE Deferred MBA program.

Eligibility Criteria

Now, let us see who all are eligible to apply for the IESE Deferred MBA program. These are the two categories of applicants –

1) Students studying in the last year in their universities before full-time employment. Although, it should be noted that preference is given to those students who have a secure job offer in their hands at the time of submission of the application.

2) Young professionals with not more than 2 years of full-time work experience can also apply for the IESE Deferred MBA program. This is unlike most of the other deferred MBA programs that do not allow any persons with full-time work experience to apply for their deferred MBA programs.

Requirements for Applying

Before starting your online application, make sure to know about the different requirements for applying to the IESE Deferred MBA program. These have been discussed below –

1) Online assessment – This can be done by going to the website of IESE Business School.

2) Official transcripts – Official transcripts or university grades of all the academic programs need to be submitted.

3) Current Resume – This is one of the most important parts of your application. Use this as an opportunity to highlight the best of your skills and abilities. Showcase all your achievements and work experience in it.

4) One letter of recommendation – This should come from a professor at the university where the applicant has studied or a current supervisor in the professional setting. It should come from a person that knows the applicant well and can elaborate on her/his achievements, leadership ability and other personal attributes.

5) A photograph of the applicant is also required in the application form.

Application Process

While applying to the IESE Deferred MBA program, make sure to stick to the application deadlines. The process of submitting applications can start from around the middle of December every year and it goes till the end of February of the next year. February end is the deadline date for applying to the IESE Deferred MBA program. The non-refundable application fee is $40.

After the review and evaluation of the application, some applicants are invited to the Boot Camp. This is for one week in around the middle of July every year. This one week long Boot Camp helps students to get to know about the MBA program that they are going to join and meet their future classmates. Support and guidance are provided by the Career Services Team. At this stage, the suitability of the applicant is considered for the MBA program. This is quite an enriching exposure for applicants. Students also share their journey before MBA with current students.

The selected students are required to attend at least one alumni event of the school every year. These events are happening all over the world. One of the IESE events is the Continuous Education Program which helps in gaining a good perspective of the business carried out in different parts of the world. They also encourage admitted students to use the deferral period for preparing for the GMAT exam. After gaining some years of work experience, the best year for enrolment is to be discussed with the school. Please note that the students are required to notify the school before the end of December of the year prior to enrolment.

The office at IESE Business School grants and manages financial aid and scholarships of up to €20000 every year. The scholarships are subject to eligibility criteria.

If an applicant is not selected in the IESE Deferred program, she/he can still follow the regular process of applying to the full-time MBA program. If admission in the IESE Deferred MBA program is granted to an applicant, there are no additional tuition cost charges. The class materials, course structure and lunches on campus are a part of the program. All the personal living costs like transportation, rent, etc. need to be at each person’s expense.
