Imperial College MBA Program | Highlights & Details – Vikings Career

Imperial College is one of the best schools to pursue a full-time MBA program. The ranking of the Imperial College MBA program is 39th in the world (The Financial Times). Also, their ranking in the QS MBA by Specializations Rankings 2019 was 2nd in the world. The last class of the Imperial College MBA Program had 77 students, out of which 88% were international students. 44% of the total students were females. And the average work experience of the students was of 6 years. If you are thinking about pursuing the Imperial College MBA program, then, it is very important to know all the different details related to it like curriculum, fee, admission requirements and how to apply, etc. Let us discuss all these aspects here.

Course Curriculum

The Imperial College MBA program is a 12-month program that starts in September every year. There are three terms of study followed by an assessment in the program.

Autumn term – Core modules are covered in this term which includes areas like general functions of management and exploring business topics, etc.

Spring term – After the completion of the autumn term, this term has a lot of practical experiences in it. Key techniques are used to solve business problems.

Summer term – This term consists of elective courses that can be selected by students according to their preferences.

Assessment – Exams are conducted at the end of core 2 and core 4.

Eligibility Criteria & Entry Requirements

To get into the Imperial College MBA program, the first thing to know is the requirements for applying to the school. Let us discuss them here –

1) Minimum full-time work experience of 3 years after graduation.

2) A decent undergraduate degree with official transcripts

3) Minimum GMAT score of 600. The better the score, the better it is for the candidate. Minimum GRE score of 156 (new test) or score of 550 (old test) in the verbal, 158 (new test) or 740 (old test) in the quantitative section.

4) One of the following –

a) IELTS – Minimum score of 7. 6.5 is the minimum score in each element

b) TOEFL iBT – Minimum score of 100. An overall score of 22 is required in all the elements.

c) Study and award of degree in an English-speaking country.

5) 2 references

6) Your personal statement describing your suitability for the Imperial College MBA program. It should be on A4 paper and should include your reasons for applying to the program

Course Fee

The tuition fee of the Imperial College MBA program is £53,500. There are different payment options that can be chosen by students as per their convenience.

Single payment – The whole fee can be paid at the beginning of the program

Two staged payments – The first one needs to be done in the beginning.

The second one needs to be done by the next February.

This option is available only when the fee is being self-funded. A 2% surcharge would also be added to the first installment.

Other than this fee, there are additional expenses related to living expenses, rent, internships, supplementary texts, etc.

Scholarships

There are different kinds of scholarships that are available for funding some part of the tuition fee of the Imperial College MBA program. Some of them are –

Imperial Women’s Scholarships – This scholarship is awarded to exceptional women

GMAT Excellence Awards – An amount of £5,350 is awarded to candidates having an overall GMAT score of 750.

Imperial Loyalty Bursary – An amount of £10,700 is awarded to eligible graduates of Imperial College London.

Placement Statistics

The placement stats of the Imperial College MBA program are quite impressive. 91% of the students got a job offer within 3 months of completion of the program. Also, there was an increase of 30% of their average salary after the program. 29% of the students got placed in consultancy while 25% got job offers in technology/IT/Telecom followed by 23% placements in the finance sector. The average salary of the students was £59,511. How to Apply

In order to apply to the Imperial College MBA program,  the first thing to find out the application deadlines for the different rounds of admission. The details are mentioned below –

Round 1 – The deadline for submitting an application is in October. The interview dates are scheduled in November while the notification of decisions comes by December.

Round 2 – The deadline for submitting an application is in January. The interview dates are scheduled in February while the notification of decisions comes by March.

Round 3 – The deadline for submitting an application is at the beginning of March. The interview dates are scheduled in late March while the notification of decisions comes by April.

Round 4 – The deadline for submitting an application is in April. The interview dates are scheduled in May while the notification of decisions comes by the end of the month.

Round 5 – The deadline for submitting an application is in June. The interview dates are scheduled in July while the notification of decisions comes by the end of the month.

The first step is to complete the online form which includes questions regarding the candidate, his/her career, and educational history. In the career planning essay, the candidate is required to write two short essays (350 words each) on your future career plans, focusing on the short term (out from the MBA) and longer-term career goals and objectives.

Your answers should demonstrate the research that you have done into your chosen career path and how the MBA will fit into your overall career trajectory, as well as an understanding of the sector or area you wish to work in and the challenges you might face, and an awareness of how to position yourself in the market.

Then, an application fee of £135 needs to be submitted online. All the required documents mentioned in the requirements section need to be uploaded along with the contact details of 2 references.

If the application is selected by the admissions committee, the applicant would be sent an invite for the interview process through Skype. This lasts for around 30-40 minutes.

After the whole process, the final decision would be notified to the applicant before the published decision date. The whole process is long and requires effort in each area. This is doable with proper planning and discipline. All the best for your journey!
