The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has been one of the oldest and well-known business schools in Asia. The CUHK MBA program is one of the most prestigious ones in this region. They invite students from diverse backgrounds to come and learn here. This CUHK MBA program lets them explore other work areas and make a shift if desired. The average class size in the last batch of the CUHK MBA Program was 72 with an average age of 30 years. 32% of them were females. 54% of the total students had Chinese language capability. These students had an average work experience of 6.8 years. There are many aspects related to getting an admission in the CUHK MBA program. Course Curriculum

The CUHK MBA program gives students two options – a 12-month and 16-month program. There is an exchange program that lasts up to 3-4 months in the 16-month MBA program. In the course curriculum of the CUHK MBA program, the core courses are taught in English but the Chinese language is preferred in the elective courses. The core courses need to be taken by all the students. However, they can make their own choices while selecting elective courses as per their interests. Some of the core courses are Corporate Financial Reporting, Financial Management, Leadership Development, Macroeconomics for Business Executives, etc. Some of the elective courses include Behavioural Decision Making, Business Field Study – Europe, Business Valuation and Analysis, etc.

Eligibility Criteria & Entry Requirements

While applying to the CUHK MBA program, it is recommended to check all the eligibility criteria and admission requirements first. These are being discussed here:

1) Degree certificate of the undergraduate degree and academic transcripts

2) Minimum full-time work experience of three years

3) Resume

4) A good score in GMAT – Band 21 (Verbal) / GRE

THE average GMAT score in the last class was 650.

5) A good score in IELTS (an overall score of 6.5)/ TOEFL iBT (an overall score of 79)

6) Copies of applicants’ Passport or Hong Kong Identity Card

7) Two sets of references

Course Fee

The tuition fee of the CUHK MBA program is HKD 560,000. Caution money of HKD 450 also needs to be deposited. The estimates of other expenses are as follows:

Accommodation outside campus – HKD 5000 – 15000

Accommodation on campus – HKD 4600

Meals – HKD 3000 – 6000

Living costs including books, etc. – HKD 2000 – 5000

Transport Costs – HKD 500 – 1000

Applicants must indicate the scholarship preference in their Online Application Form to be eligible to be considered for scholarships. No separate form is needed. Placement Statistics

Out of the total students who were seeking employment, 79% got hired within 3 months of graduation. 98% got job offers in Asia. There was a 99% increase in the median salary of students. Another important thing to note is that 82% of the students managed to change their industries. How to Apply

Before applying to the CUHK MBA programs, it is important to stick to the deadlines mentioned by the school –

First Round – October 19

The deadline for submitting documents in round 1 is November 19 and the decision is given by December 19.

Second Round – December 14

The deadline for submitting documents in round 2 is January 14 and the decision is given by February 14.

Third Round – February 22

The deadline for submitting documents in round 3 is March 22 and the decision is given by April 22.

Fourth Round – April 19

The deadline for submitting documents in round 4 is May 19 and the decision is given by May 31.

The first step is to fill the online application form and submit it along with all the necessary documents like transcripts, resume, GMAT/GRE score, etc. An application fee of HKD 1200 needs to be submitted too. After the review of applicants’ applications, the Admissions Committee shortlists some candidates for the next process, which is an interview. Applicants are invited for a face-to-face or video interview. The weightage of this interview is quite high in the whole process. The final decision of the Admissions Committee is updated on the application system and emails are sent to applicants to inform them about the same. There are many requirements for admissions into MBA programs which should be carefully checked and strictly adhered to. One must be fully prepared for all the steps including the interview process while applying to the CUHK MBA program.
