The CUHK Business School was accredited by the US-based Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB International) six years ago for the CUHK Executive MBA program. Three years ago the Business School also received official accreditation from the London-based Association of MBAs (AMBA). Not to mention, the AACSB and AMBA, both are prominent authorities in business education.
Overview: CUHK Executive MBA
Uniquely prevailing in its approach, the CUHK Executive MBA program was started in 1993 by the CUHK Business School. It serves as a two-year part-time program to promote business education in Hong Kong.
The main objective of establishing this EMBA program is to cultivate the necessary aptitudes and understanding of modern management + prepare the participants for general management commitments at the leading executive level. With the rise in corporate and managerial complexities, the volume of senior executives facing new challenges is increasing too. Consequently, the CUHK Executive MBA program aims to enhance the analytical skills and decision-making process of the participants, plus enrich the competitive expectation of their corporation.
The CUHK Executive MBA program displays our dedication toward understanding and excellence by concentrating on the technique and integrative nature of the business environment in which the senior executives administer.
PLEASE NOTE- The participants are supposed to preserve their full-time job commitments throughout the academic journey of the EMBA program.
The curriculum consists of 2 years of studies with four terms in each year. Two in-residence study programs are conducted at the beginning and end of the CUHK Executive MBA program for one week each. In the first year, the participants are helped with building a strong foundation in all major business objectives and they get to uncover numerous transforming business environments. Whereas, the 2nd year underlines comprehensive strategies and protocols using a functionally integrative approach.
The CUHK Executive MBA program uniformly uses the decisive and miscellaneous management experience of the senior executives as a benefit. Although the methods of instructions vary, they may comprise of the following:
- Formal lectures
- Seminars
- Case analysis
- Simulation games
- Individual and group projects (related to current management problems in the organization of the host participants)
The CUHK Executive MBA program expects participants to contribute to the small as well as large group activities within a highly commercial business environment to enrich the educational significance of the program. Usually, the participants who have distinct backgrounds and experience points are the ones who form the study groups. Moreover, the participants are trained in effective communication skills and teamwork proficiency to accomplish the EMBA objective of CUHK Business School. Plus, they’re made to take multiple practices of the same.
One thing that the Chinese University of Hong Kong cannot tolerate at any cost is cheating and Plagiarism. The University promotes honesty and thus expects the participants to submit honest academic work throughout the course. On the violation of the same, the University may lead to disciplinary actions and eventually termination from the program.
Curriculum: CUHK Executive MBA
The CUHK Executive MBA program understands and respects the value of the time of its participants. Therefore, to make the program more flexible, the participants are provided with additional 1.5 unit short-term electives on top of the usual 3 units of electives. This also enhances the diversity of the program. Broadly, the participants are compelled to complete 8 core courses with three units each during the first year and 21 units of electives along with one core course of 3 units (EMBA Global Business and Management Study) in the second year to graduate.

- Marketing Management (MKTG)
TERM 2:
- Accounting of Business Decisions (ACCT)
- Macroeconomics in a globalized area. (DSME)
TERM 3:
- Corporate Financial Analysis and Decision Making (FINA)
- Crafting and Executing Winning Strategies (MGNT)
TERM 4:
- Business Analytics (DSME)
Second Year
TERMS 1 TO 4:
21 Electives: 7 electives with 3 units
OR 6 electives with three units and 2 electives with 1.5 units

Admission Requirements:
The applicants must fulfil the following requirements to apply for the CUHK Executive MBA program:
- The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent in terms of professional accomplishments from a recognized University.
- The candidate must have at least 7 years of post-qualification business experience or the same in relevant work with at least 5 years or more in managerial positions.
- The applicant must compulsorily hold a responsible senior management post and must be committed to the same currently.
English language Proficiency Requirements:
The applicant should have any of the following English language requirements to apply for the CUHK Executive MBA program:
- The bachelor’s degree must be obtained from the University of Hong Kong or a recognized University whose intermediate language of instruction must be English.
- The applicant can provide an acquired recognized professional qualification in an examination whose medium of conduct was English.
- The applicant may have accomplished scores (as directed) in the following English Language tests:
- TOEFL – at least 550 (paper-based) + 79 (internet-based) or above
- IELTS – 6.5 or above academically.
- GMAT – Band 21 in verbal
- The applicant must have succeeded in English in one of the following examinations:
- Hong Kong advanced level examination (AS Level)
- Hong Kong Higher Level Examination
- CUHK Matriculation Examination
- General Certificate of Education Examination (GCE) Advanced Level (A-Level) or Advanced Subsidiary Level (AS-Level)
- In the English Language subject of Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examinations, the applicant must have scored a level 4 or more.
Application process:
The applications can be submitted through any of the options listed below for the CUHK Executive MBA program:
- Online Application: The applications can be submitted online by filling out the application form available on the CUHK Business School portal.
- By Post/Email: The applicant is allowed to download the application in PDF or DOC. This way they can fill out the form and send it to the University through post or email.
Fees:
The total tuition fees for the CUHK Executive MBA program are HK$640,000. Plus around HK$26,000, for the expenses of the residential week in the first year. Usually, the fees are paid in four instalments per academic year, where the first instalment is followed by the second, then third, then the fourth instalment respectively in every term.
