Cambridge Judge Business School is the business school of the University of Cambridge. Situated in the heart of Cambridge, the school is surrounded by science parks & innovation centers. Curriculum

The Cambridge Judge School MBA Program is an intensive one-year program divided into four terms in four distinct phases. The curriculum is a blend of workshops, seminars, lectures, group discussions, presentations, & experiential learning. The program consists of 16 core courses, six elective topics (to be chosen from more than 45 electives), one concentration (out of 10 concentration topics offered), & learning milestone projects at the end of each term.

The first term includes seven core courses that help you understand the core business principles. Subjects like Entrepreneurship, Corporate Finance, Microeconomics, Organizational Behavior, & Management science are taught to the students. The term ends with the Cambridge venture project, a live project with external clients. The second term focuses on organizational complexity and includes five core courses on subjects like Strategy, Marketing, & Corporate governance. The students are also required to choose a total of 3 electives.

The term ends with the Global consulting project, where students do a real-world live project with multinational companies. The third term consists of 3 core courses & 3 elective courses. Students also have to choose one concentration, which helps them dive deeper into any subject of their interest. The topic of concentration includes Finance, Global Business, Healthcare strategies, Digital Transformation, Marketing, etc.

At the end of the third term, students take a concentration project as a part of the learning milestone, based on the concentration they have studied throughout the term. In the fourth & final term, students can choose either an individual project, summer internship, or work on a research paper. The school also provides international exchange programs to the students with the Cambridge Judge’s partner institutions around the world. Some of them are Hong Kong University Business School, NUS, Singapore, University of Sydney, Australia, & IBS Moscow.

Eligibility

The Cambridge Judge Business School looks for candidates who are highly motivated & ambitious. Below are the other mandatory requirements to apply for the Cambridge Judge School MBA Program:

Academic requirements

The applicants are required to have at least a 2:1 honors degree on the UK grading scale or an equivalent standard from an overseas institution. Along with this, a GPA of at least 3.3 is required to apply for the Cambridge Judge School MBA Program.

Work Experience

The applicants must have at least 3-years of work experience. In exceptional cases where candidates have excellent academic records, 2-years of work experience is also considered. The current average work experience of the class is 6-years. Please note that the admissions committee looks for a progression in your career.

Test

A valid GMAT or GRE score is a must requirement to apply for the Cambridge Judge School MBA Program. Although there is no minimum score requirement, the current average GMAT of the class is 691, with a range of (middle 80%) 640-730. The school also requires the applicants from non-native English speaking countries to submit the English Proficiency Tests like TOEFL or IELTS. The minimum requirement for the same is 105 & 7.5, respectively.

Course Fee

For the one-year Cambridge Judge School MBA program, the tuition & program fee comes at £57,000. Along with this, an estimated living expense is approximately £14,500. There are other additional expenses like traveling to and from Cambridge, buying a laptop, a UK mobile phone, etc. The school also asks you to prove that you have enough funds to cover your accommodation cost & living expenses during the MBA program.

Scholarships

The scholarship provides £10,000 to selected candidates with excellent academics. Preferably a GPA over 3.7, a GMAT score of 700 or more, & a 3-year of work experience.

Boustany Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship covers your tuition fees. In addition to that, it also covers your travel & accommodation expenses related to your internship. The award is given to outstanding & meritorious students with excellent academics & demonstrated leadership skills.

The Cambridge MBA Healthcare Scholarships

This award is offered to outstanding students with a background in the Healthcare sector. A total of 3 awards of £25,000 are offered.

The Forté Foundation Scholarship

This award is offered to outstanding women candidates with exceptional academics, leadership skills, & professional experience.

The ROMBA fellowship MBA scholarship for the LGBTQ community

One award of £25,000 is given to a student from the LGBTQ community who has a history and passion for leading the LGBTQ initiatives.

Other than this, there are some loan options for the admitted students, including the Prodigy Finance & Career Development Loan.

Placements

Ranked #1 for the value of money by the Financial Times survey in 2017, the Cambridge Judge Business School provides an exceptional career opportunity to its students. The career management center of the school organizes several career-related activities to develop skills among the students and make them placement ready. In 2018-19, 94% of the students seeking employment received the job offer within 3-months of graduation. More than 100 companies participated in the recruitment drive.

Also, a total of 16 students started their company post MBA. The average package salary received by the class was £99,753. More than half of the class chose to continue their career in the United Kingdom. 96% of the class switched at least country, function, or industry sector. And 43% changed all three. Interview:

After applying for the Cambridge Judge School MBA Program, your application will be reviewed by the admissions committee. If shortlisted, you will be invited to the interview. You will get the notification for the same three weeks before the deadline. Shortlisted applicants are invited to interview at the Cambridge Judge Business School. However, in exceptional cases, when the applicant is unable to travel to the campus, the interview is offered in the applicant’s geographical area or via Skype. The school strongly recommends appearing for the interview on-campus.

All the interviews are conducted by the faculty members. Unlike other business schools, alumni or second-year students do not take the interviews. The interview lasts for 30-45 minutes and consists of general MBA interview questions. After your interview, the admissions committee makes the final decision after evaluating your whole application & interview feedback. You will be notified of your acceptance or rejection within 2-3 weeks of your appearing for the interview. Please note that if you get accepted, you will be required to pay a commitment fee of 15% of the program fee. (It will later get adjusted to your total tuition fee).

Essay Details & Tips

 The following are the main essay questions on the Cambridge MBA application:

  1. Please provide a personal statement. It should not exceed 500 words and must address the following:

What are your short and long term career objectives, and what skills/characteristics do you already have that will help you achieve them?

What actions will you take before and during the MBA to contribute to your career outcome?

If you are unsure of your post-MBA career path, how will the MBA equip you for the future?

  1. Describe a difficult decision that you had to make. What did you learn from this, and how have you changed as a result? (Up to 200 words)
  2. Describe a time where you worked with a team on a project. What did you learn from the experience, and how might you approach it differently today? (Up to 200 words)
  3. If you could give one piece of advice to your 18-year-old self, what would it be? (Up to 200 words)

The essay is one of the principal elements of your evaluation process. The school looks for confidence, creativity, integrity, global outlook, & a spirit of teamwork within the candidates. So make sure your essay reflects it all. Take time for self-reflection and come up with a unique response. Remember that there is no correct answer for the essay. The admissions committee would like to know the genuine you. Be thorough & understandable throughout.
