Questrom School MBA Program is offered by the graduate business school of Boston University. Established in 1913, it is one of the oldest business schools in the United States. The school offers several undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The school also offers two Ph.D. programs. Questrom has some 250 full-time faculty and some 200 part-time faculty, teaching fellows, and active research assistants. The Questrom School MBA Program has been ranked #16 in the US by the QS Global MBA Ranking 2019. The Questrom School of Business is a private business school that has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate of Business.

The school has produced several alumni who are leading the business world today. For the class of 2020, the school received more than 1,000 applications from around the world. Out of this, only 159 students bagged a place in the Questrom School MBA Program. 48% of the students are female candidates, while 43% are international students from around the world.

Curriculum:

The curriculum for the Questrom School MBA Program is one of a kind, with a combination of core courses, electives, and an internship. The core courses will help you to gain fundamental business skills that every leader should have in them. Some of the core subjects include Financial Reporting, Ethics, Managing Organizations & People, Marketing Management, Business Analytics, etc.

At the end of your first module, you will put all you have learned so far to use in a hands-on integrated project. In this project, you will understand the economic & accounting principles to evaluate a company as a possible takeover target within a specific sector.

The school offers an opportunity for early access to electives. You can take electives in your first year to discover what interests you the most.

Your second year will begin with an intensive course in managing risk and then offers you even more elective courses, allowing you to customize your MBA program according to your career goals & interest. There are a total of 11 electives that you will have to study throughout your MBA program.

At Questrom, you will also have a unique opportunity to earn a specialized degree in the health sector, social impact, or digital technology, while studying in a city that is considered a capital in all three industries. Through this specialization, you will dive deep into these crucial sectors of the economy.

Moreover, the school provides global experiences that consist of global immersion courses, student-led treks, & more.  This will provide you with international experience to enrich both your education and your mind. The Global Immersion Course is a 3-credit elective that provides you a chance to go global. In this course, you will delve into the international business world by speaking with CEOs and managers from across the globe and learn about challenges in emerging markets. The students have previously visited several countries, including Vietnam, Paris, Israel, & Brazil.

Eligibility:

Academic Requirement:

The school requires that applicants hold a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited US institution or its international equivalent. If you have earned a three-year degree that is the equivalent of a four-year degree in the US, it will be accepted in the admissions process.

There is no minimum graduate GPA required to apply for the Questrom School MBA Program.

Professional Requirement:

The school does not have minimum work experience requirements for candidates interested to apply for the program. However, almost all the accepted students have at least two years of full-time postgraduate work experience.

Standardized Tests:

A valid GMAT or GRE score is a must requirement to apply for the Questrom School MBA Program. However, in response to the COVID-19, the school is not requiring a GMAT or GRE score.

Additionally, international students who are from non-native English speaking countries are required to submit English proficiency test scores. The school accepts TOEFL, IELTS, & PTE. The minimum score requirements for TOEFL is 600 on the PBT and 90 on the IBT. For IELTS, competitive applicants typically score a minimum of 6.5 on each band.

Course Fees:

The tuition fees for the Questrom School MBA Program for the academic year 2020-21 is $56,854. Applicants are also required to pay a mandatory University fee of $962. It includes student services fees and health & wellness fees for the year. All the international students are also required to take health insurance, which costs $2,789 a year.

Other than the tuition fees, the estimated living expenses for one year come at $20,538. It includes housing & board (14,590), books & supplies ($1,574), & other personal expenses of ($4,374).

Scholarships:

The school provides several merit-based scholarships to admitted qualified full-time students. Applicants are notified of these opportunities in their initial offers of admission. A separate application for scholarship consideration is not needed, and the Admission Committee considers all admitted candidates for merit-based scholarship awards. For the fall 2019 entering class, almost 90% received scholarship assistance with the average award exceeding half-tuition each year.

Dean’s Scholarship:

This award is offered to the highest quality candidates from around the world. The Dean’s Scholarship program provides awards, ranging from $10,000 to full tuition for candidates with outstanding professional, academic, and personal qualities. There is no additional application required to apply for this scholarship. All the candidates are considered for this award.

Social Impact Scholarship:

This scholarship is provided to students who seek to use core business management skills to address society’s most challenging humanitarian and social problems. The intent of the Social Impact Scholarship program is to limit the financial burden faced by students. This program provides awards ranging from $10,000 to full tuition per year.

In addition to these awards, you can also fund your MBA Program through private student loan options. The school recommends Prodigy Finance & MPower Financing. However, it also encourages you to research the different loan programs and determine which loan best fits your needs.

Employment Report:

For the class of 2019, 92% of the students seeking employment accepted an offer within 3 months of graduation. The median salary received by the class was $100,000. The average signing bonus packed by the students was $15,786.

Reportedly, 95% of the students accepted a job offer within the United States.

Interview:

After an initial screening of your application, you may be invited for the interview. The interview for the Questrom School MBA Program is by invitation only. The interview can be conducted on campus, in an off-campus location, or via Skype. It generally lasts for 30 minutes and consists of several behavioral questions.

Interviews help the members of the admissions committee to know you beyond your application and resume. The school encourages the applicants to ask thoughtful questions at the end of the interview. This gives the admissions committee members a clear idea that you have researched the program thoroughly and are genuinely interested.

Essay Details & Tips:

In a unique approach, the school asks the interested applicants to complete either three short video essays OR one written essay during the application process.

The school believes that everyone expresses themselves in a different way, so the choice should be yours.

Video Essays:

If you are someone who feels they can better express themselves and their reasons for applying to the Questrom School MBA Program through a video, then go with this option. Within the “Documents” section of the “Program Materials” portion of the application, you will find your personalized link to the video essay website. Clicking this link will bring you to the Kira Talent website.

Once you create your account with Kira Talent, you can begin your video essay. You will have to answer three questions. For the first question, you will get 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to record your answer. This will then repeat for two additional random short-answer questions.

Written Essay:

If you are someone who feels they can better express themselves and their reasons for applying to the Questrom School MBA Program in writing, then go with this option. Within the “Documents” section of the “Program Materials” portion of the application, you will scroll down to “Essay” and click “Add Document” to upload your written essay.

Your written essay should be no more than 750 words and should explain to the admissions committee why you would like to earn your degree from the Questrom School of Business specifically.

It should also address why you have selected the program you are applying to – and how that program will help you achieve your post-graduate goals.

Optional Essay:

If you have any additional information to bring to the attention of the Admissions Committee, you may address it in an optional essay of no more than 250 words.
