Course Curriculum

The full-time Jones Graduate School MBA program is a 2-year long program. The core curriculum is followed in the first year whereas students choose their elective courses in the second year. In the fall semester of the first year, the students are required to study areas like Managerial Economics,  Data Analytics, Leadership, etc. In the spring semester of the first year, some other areas like Operations Management, Managerial Accounting, etc. are studied. Course Fee

The tuition fee for the Graduate School MBA program is $60,940.  The two-year estimate is $121,880. $2,500 is the enrollment deposit which is required to be paid on acceptance to the program.

How to Apply

While applying to the Jones Graduate School MBA Program, one must first check the application deadlines. They have 2 separate round 2 decision dates for international and domestic students. The application deadlines and decisions release date are mentioned here –

Round 1 – The application deadline is October while the rolling decision is given in December.

Round 2 – The application deadline is January while the rolling decision is given in March.

Round 3 – The application deadline is March while the rolling decision is given in May.

After filling the online application form, you are required to upload all the required documents discussed earlier. Essays are an important part of the application. These are –

Essay 1 – “The Rice Business experience is designed to inspire our students to become future business leaders. How did your path, from both a professional and a personal perspective, guide you to where you are today, and how will Rice Business fit into where you would like to go next?”

Either an essay of 500 word limit needs to be written or a 1-3 minute video needs to be made.

Essay 2- “Few in history have experienced a global event that has reached all corners of the world. During the impact of recent global activities, we have all been affected in different ways and have had to operate with ambiguity. What was the biggest lesson you learned during this moment in history and how will you carry this lesson forward as a future leader when having to make decisions with incomplete information?”

Essay 3 – Please choose to answer one of the following prompts:

Prompt #1: “What movie, song, or book has most influenced your life and the way you view the world? Why?”

Prompt #2: “A picture is worth a thousand words. Choose a picture from your life that you value and tell us the story of that picture – but only in 500 words or less. Feel free to share the photo!”

Prompt #3: “Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the United States, and food is a large part of these cultures. If you had to design a 3-course menu to prepare for your future MBA core team, what would be on the menu that showcases more about who you are?”

Please choose only one method of communication that you would like to use for your response (you can only submit one video – either for prompt #1 or prompt #3):

– Write an essay (500 word limit)

– Share a video (one to three minute time limit)

An application fee of $200 needs to be paid online after the submission of the application.

This is followed by an interview process. For local students, it is recommended to visit the university for the interview while the international students can conduct their interviews online.
