The Carlson School MBA program is one of the best full-time programs in the region. The school encourages diversity among its students. They come from different countries and different professional as well as academic backgrounds. The average class size of the Carlson School MBA program is 89, out of which 19% were international students in the last batch. 32% of the students were females. The average age of students is 28.67 years. They have an average work experience of 4.74 years. Course Curriculum

The Carlson School MBA program is a two-year full-time program that comprises of 64 credits. Its structure has been detailed below –

1) In the summer before the beginning of the first year, students are required to do some online pre-work like Accounting, Survey, Career Assessment, etc. The orientation happens in late August.

2) In the first year, the fall semester has core classes of 20 credits and includes subjects like Data Analytics, Operations Management, Economics, etc. In the spring semester, there are core classes of 5 credits. It also has elective courses of 10 credits and enterprise of 4 credits.

3) The fall semester of the second year has elective courses of 4 credits, enterprise of 4 credits, global enrichment of 4-10 credits. The spring semester includes Business Ethics (2 credits), elective classes (10-14 credits), and leading organizations (1 credit).

Eligibility Criteria & Entry Requirements

If you are interested in applying to the Carlson School MBA program, you should be ready with the following things –

1) Transcripts from each college before applying for the program

2) GMAT/GRE Score – There is no minimum requirement but the median GMAT score of their students is 690. The mid-80% GMAT range is 620-740. The median GRE score is 321 and the mid-80% GRE range is 307-330.

3) 2 professional recommendations – Names and contact information of 2 references need to be provided

4) Personal Statement

5) Language Tests –

TOEFL – iBT – score ranges between 90-105

Paper-based – Score ranges between 600-650

IELTS – A minimum score of 7 with at least 6.5 in each section

PTE – A minimum score of 65

Duolingo – Score ranges between 110-120+

8) The application fee is $75 which is non-refundable in nature.

Course Fee

The tuition fees for Minnesota residents is $40,176 while the tuition fee for non-residents and international students is $51,456. The other expenses related to the Carlson School MBA program are described as follows –

Books – $3,000

Health insurance – $2,340

Student services fee- $908.48

Collegiate & technology fee- $1,160

Other fees- $245.26

Global Experience is variable. International student fees are $378. The approximated total annual costs for Minnesota students are $47,829 while it is $59,109 for non-residents and international students.

Scholarships

There are different kinds of scholarships available for the students of the Carlson School MBA program to finance their tuition fees. Firstly, there is a whole list of internal scholarships. Secondly, the students can also apply for external scholarships too.

Some of the internal scholarships awarded to the students are mentioned here –

1) The Carlson School Deans and Fellow Awards – These are merit-based scholarships and the amounts vary from partial tuition fee to complete tuition waiver.

2) Merit-based scholarships with the amounts varying from partial tuition fees to complete tuition waivers are awarded to international students. The names of these scholarships are Harrison and Ip MBA scholarships.

3) Dean and Amy Sundquist Global MBA Scholarship – This covers the study abroad costs of the required Global Experience and is awarded to deserving students of the Carlson School MBA program.

Some of the external scholarships are from the Bush Foundation, FastWeb, FinAid, etc.

Placement Statistics

The employment report of the Carlson School MBA program is very good. 93% of the students got placed within 3 months of graduation. The base salary of the students ranged between $58,926 and $165,000. The signing bonus amount ranged between $2,500 to $70,000.

How to Apply

Just like any other school, Carlson School MBA program also has some application deadlines which must be followed while applying. They are –

1- The application needs to be made by October 1 to get a response by November 15.

2 – The application needs to be made by December 1 to get a response by February 15.

3 – The application needs to be made by February 1 to get a response by March 15.

4 – The application needs to be made by April 1 to get a response by May 15.

The first step is to fill the online application for the Carlson School MBA program. It would require you to submit your personal statement which should be up to 1200 words. The following questions must be answered in your personal statement –

1) Why are you choosing to pursue an MBA at this time in your career? What are you hoping to accomplish by doing so? Briefly describe your short-term (upon graduation from the program) and long-term (5-10 years after the program) career goals. Please be as specific as possible with roles, companies and/or industries.

2) What excites you about being part of the Carlson School MBA program? Do you have an enterprise program that you are currently interested in and why? What skills would you bring to this enterprise?

3) Carlson MBA programs are looking for diverse voices and experiences to add to classroom discussions. Can you tell us about how you have participated in and/or advocated for building more inclusive communities in your career?

After the review of the application, some of the candidates would be sent an invite for the interview. It can be conducted through Skype if the applicant is not able to come to the campus.
