In the technology Era, nowadays, computer-aided design (CAD) software is used by jewellery manufacturing firms in order to facilitate product design and to avoid flaws during the designing process. CAD not only allows the designer to create a virtual-reality model of a piece of jewellery but he/ she can also modify, change the stone or try a different setting and see the changes on a computer screen before cutting a stone or performing other costly steps. Once the preliminary changes and settings have been made a mold of the prepared model is produced in a wax-like or other material with the help of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) process. CAM helps in the easier manufacturing of numerous pieces of the same design.

- Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery: IIGJ has established in 1986 for providing an educational platform to the aspirants for jewellery designers. It has four branched across India: New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Andheri.
Aspirants can secure admission in the Jewellery Design Foundation/Gemology Course if they have cleared their 10+2 from an English medium school.
Courses offered at IIGJ include Jewellery Design Foundation Course, Industry Oriented Design, Computer-Aided Design/Rhino, Styles of Jewellery Design, Jewellery Design Diploma, Jewellery Technology Diploma- Basic, Jewellery
Technology Diploma- Advance, Jewellery Technology Diploma, Diamonds, and Diamond Grading, Coloured Gemstone Identification and Diploma in Gemology.
- Pearl Academy of Fashion: It has established in 1993. It has 4 branches across India: Jaipur, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Noida. It offers BA (Hons) in jewellery design. Aspirant can apply for it after 10+2 with any stream.
- Gemological Institute of India: It established in 1971 in Mumbai. Aspirants can secure admission in the Jewellery Design Foundation/Gemology Course if they have cleared their 10+2 from an English medium school.
GII was the brainchild of some most well-renowned Gem traders of Mumbai – Shri Kirtilal K. Doshi, Late Shri Himmatbhai C. Jhaveri, Shri Rajendrakumar A. Shah, Shri Pravin M. Nanavati, and Shri Padmakant H. Jhaveri.
Courses offered at GII include Diploma in Diamond Grading, Diploma in Jewellery Designing, Diploma in Gemmology (Gemmology Correspondence Course), Short Term Certificate Course in Gem Identification, Polished Diamond Grading, Rough Diamond Assortment, and Gemmology Course.
- Indian Institute of Jewellery: It has established in 2005 in Mumbai, Offering education in spheres like Jewellery Manufacturing, Gemmology, Design, CAD, Jewellery Retail, and Business. IIJ is a technical collaborator of two programs which are – Post Graduate Diploma in Jewellery Management (PGDJM) and Diploma in Jewellery Design Management (DJDM). IIJ offers these programs with the Garware Institute of Career and Education Development (GICED), University of Mumbai. The course curriculum, faculty, training as well as infrastructure facilities for these two programs are offered by IIJ.
