Alberta School MBA Program Course Curriculum

There is a core curriculum for building the basics of management skills in the students. The courses are covered through a good blend of classes, cases, and real time learning. The core curriculum consists of basic knowledge of different areas like finance, international business, marketing, etc. In addition to the core curriculum, there are elective courses that students can choose for themselves as per their interests and inclinations. There is also an MBA Capstone course where students are required to work with an outside organization that is facing some kind of issue. The team of students needs to identify the problem and its probable solutions. Along with this, they are also required to plan a course of action to ensure proper implementation of their solutions.

Eligibility Criteria & Entry Requirements

When you start thinking about a suitable MBA program, the first thing to know is its eligibility criteria and requirements for applying to it. There are many eligibility criteria that should be looked at carefully while applying to the Alberta School MBA Program. They are being discussed here:

1) Undergraduate Degree – The applicant should have a 4-year undergraduate degree with a GPA of at least 3/4 in their last two years of studies. The applicant needs to upload the most recent academic documents like –

  1. a) Transcripts in the original language
  2. b) Mark sheet in English translation (if the language of original mark sheet is not English)
  3. c) Degree Certificate in the Original Language
  4. d) Degree Certificate in English translation (if the language of original Degree Certificate is not English)

2) Work Experience – Alberta School gives a lot of weightage to work experience and achievements in early career. The minimum eligibility criteria for professional experience after the completion of an undergraduate degree is 2 years of full-time work. The average work experience of students in Alberta school is 5 years.

Applicants are required to upload a resume that explains in detail all the work experience of the applicants. It should contain all the details of work and extracurricular activities.

3) A good GMAT score is also required to apply for the Alberta School MBA Program. They say a minimum requirement of 550. Although the average GMAT score of students of the last class was 612.

The GRE score is also accepted. The minimum GRE score is at the 50th percentile.

4) English proficiency tests like TOEFL/IELTS are also required. The minimum score required to apply for this school in different language proficiency tests are explained below:

  1. a) TOEFL – 100 score in internet-based test and 600 in the paper-based test
  2. b) IELTS – Overall band score of 7 with a minimum of 5.5 on each band
  3. c) PTE – A minimum score of 68 is needed
  4. d) CAEL – A minimum score of 60 is needed with a minimum of 60 on each subtest

5) The next important requirement for applying to Alberta School is 2 letters of references. The letters should be from at least a current or a past supervisor. The names and email addresses need to be submitted in the online application.

6) Statement of Intent – This is one of the most important things that is required in the application process. This statement should be 1-2 pages in length and should cover answers to some basic questions like the reason for entering the program, career goals, individuals, and contribution to the program.

Alberta School MBA Program Course Fee

The instructional fee for Canadian citizens is CAD 1344 per 3-credit course and the non-instructional fee is around CAD 1800 per year. The total fee for Canadians is around CAD 31,000. On the other hand, the instructional fee for international students is CAD 28,261 per 3-credit course and the non-instructional fee is around CAD 1800 per year. The total fee for international students is around CAD 60,000.

Financial Support

There are different kinds of financial assistance that are provided to students of this school. In 2019, CAD 1 million was available for students of MBA in the form of entrance awards, scholarships, and bursaries. Entrance awards up to CAD 15,000 are awarded to students on the basis of their applications. No separate applications need to be made for entrance awards.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academics and outside of the classroom. Separate applications are taken from students directly. Other than these, financial support is also provided to students in the form of MBA bursaries. They are provided on the basis of residential status and financial needs. The placement statistics of the Alberta School MBA Program are very impressive. 94% of the students that graduated in 2019 were paced within 3 months of completion of the graduation. The mean total salary of the placed students was CAD 79,020. How to Apply for the Alberta School MBA Program

After knowing all the different aspects of a particular school. the process of preparation to apply begins. The Application Deadline for the Alberta School MBA Program for international students is mid-April. On the other hand, the deadline for domestic students is June. Unlike most of the MBA programs, they do not have different rounds of admission. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Let us discuss the different steps involved in this process.

1) The first step is to fill the application and send it to them with complete details along with all the required documents. The required documents are transcripts, GMAT/GRE score, IELTS/TOEFL score, resume, letters of reference, etc.

Statement of intent is a very important requirement of the application and a lot of effort and thought should be put before writing it.

2) After the completion of the applications process, these are reviewed by their Admissions team and only the selected applicants are invited for an interview.

  1. a) The first interview is a video interview that is conducted through the Kira Talent platform. Applicants need to complete this video interview within 7 days. Each interview has a set of three different behavioral questions. A candidate needs to prepare the answer in 45 seconds and record it in 1 minute. There is only one chance given to record the answers. Therefore, one must be fully prepared and focused during this interview.

  1. b) When the first interview is done, some students are selected for the second interview. They are invited for this interview with a member of the Admissions Committee. A selection of behavioral questions is asked in this interview. Generally, the second interview lasts 30 to 60 minutes. One should have a good internet connection and be seated in a clean and quiet environment for this interview.

The journey is long and tedious but totally worth it. It is said that well begun is half done. So, just make sure to plan everything well and strategize the whole process. Just be confident and work a lot on your presentation style.
