One of the six Ivy League Business School, Tuck school of business is among the most prestigious institutions for the MBA degree. It is the first-ever school to offer a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). Unlike other business schools, Tuck school of business offers only one degree. It doesn’t offer an Executive MBA or any other part-time program. The only focus is on the MBA. Curriculum

The first year consists of 32-week of the core curriculum. The courses have been systematically designed to develop the functional skills which every leader needs to lead the business world. Some of the core courses include Financial Accounting, Managerial Economics, Analytics, Marketing, Corporate Finance, & Operations Management. Students with an extensive previous background in any particular subject have the option to waive that course, & take an elective in its place.

Along with the 32-week core curriculum, students are also required to participate in the First Year Protect. In this project, Tuck students form teams to apply their entire learning of the first year to solve real-world problems for a variety of clients from Multinational Companies, Non-Profit Organizations, & Early-startups. In the second year, students can tailor their program by selecting 12 electives from 100+ electives offered by the school.

Some of the electives which the school offers are Corporate Communication, Health Economics, Marketing Research, Taxes & Business Strategy, Quantitative Digital Marketing, etc. Each student is also required to take an elective that explores the social & ethical challenges of business. It includes subjects like Business & Society, Ethics in Action, Social Entrepreneurship, & Corporate Responsibility. Other than these, there is TuckGo Program. It is a part of the experiential learning course that takes place around the world.

Each & every student is required to take at least one TuckGo Program in a country that is new to them. In 2018-19, students studied in 33 countries around the world. Tuck Exchange Program is yet another key attraction. It allows the second-year students to spend a term abroad studying at the Tuck’s partner schools like HEC Paris, ISB Hyderabad, Columbia University, IESE Barcelona, etc.

Eligibility

  1. Bachelors in any discipline:

There is no minimum cutoff for your class 12th or graduation results. You only need to have a bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent. The average GPA of the class of 2021 is 3.52, with a range of 2.35-4.00.

  1. Work Experience:

A minimum of 2 years of professional experience is required to apply for the Tuck school MBA program.

  1. Tests:

Applicants are required to submit a valid GMAT or GRE score. There is no preference between both. However, 80% of the applicants submit the GMAT score. The average GMAT score of the class of 2021 is 723, with a range of 620-780. And the average GRE score is 163 & 161 for Verbal and Quants, respectively. Students from non-native English speaking countries are also required to submit the English Proficiency Tests like TOEFL, PTE, or IELTS.

These exams can be waived if the applicant has recently lived for at least three years in an English speaking country or if the last institution attended by the applicant used English as the medium of instruction.

Course Fee

The tuition fee for one year comes at $77,520. Along with this, there are additional expenses like Books & Supplies ($1,500), Housing ($13,020), Miscellaneous & Health Expenses ($15,693), Board ($700), & Program fee ($3,567),. The total cost of attendance for one year for the Tuck school MBA program stands at $112,000 (that is approximately 84 lakh in Indian rupees). Other than these, students also need to bear the expenses of airfare & personal incidentals for the Global Requirement Course.

Scholarships

There is no separate application required to apply for the Tuck school MBA program scholarships. All the applicants are automatically considered for the same. The admission & financial aid committee members review each & every application. Scholarships are provided to outstanding students who show a demonstrated leadership quality in their application.

Tuck scholarships range from $10,000 to full tuition fees, with an average of $26,415. Scholarships are automatically renewed in 2nd year, provided the students to maintain a satisfactory academic record. Some of the popular scholarships include Consortium for graduate study in management fellowship, Forté fellowship, Romba LGBT fellowship, William G. McGowan charitable fund, etc. Please note that students who do not receive any scholarships in the first year should not expect to receive any awards in the second-year.

Other than the above scholarships, various loan programs are also available for the students. The majority of the students fund their MBA through these loans. One of the most popular loan schemes is Tuck Educational Loan Fund. Nearly 35% of the students choose this loan scheme every year. The loan is interest-free when the students are enrolled at Tuck, and after graduation, it charges a 5% interest rate.

Placements

Tuck school of business records exceptional placements every year. The class of 2019 received 98% job offers within 3-months of graduation, out of which 93% of students accepted the job offers. The median annual base salary received by the class was $140,000, with a range of $38,505-$200,000.

Reportedly 88% of the students received a median sign-on bonus of $30,000, with a range of $3,000-$90,000. 90% of the students were hired in the United States, while the rest 10% were hired internationally.

Tuck offers two paths to interview to its applicants. One is the guaranteed interviews that are available to all the students who complete & submit their application within a stipulated deadline. And the other one is invitation interviews that are available to selected students who apply after the deadline, which promises the guaranteed interviews, end. The interview is conducted by the admissions committee or second-year students. Tuck school select & train approximately 45 second-year students to take interviews of the incoming applicants. Your interview can be on-campus or via Skype. It lasts for 30-45 minutes and consists of general MBA interview questions.
